One of my passions over the last 30 years has been building and flying rubber-powered model airplanes. This is a sample of some. As you can see, there are many different kinds of models — from scale to indoor to high tech.
While most contests have been in California, I’ve competed in Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona and as far away as Norway and Eastern Canada.
I’ve slowed down considerably the past couple of years as regards to serious competing. And I’ve gotten out of the high tech models and back to the simpler old-timers you may recognize from your youth. But I’m out flying one or two times a week here in Petaluma and enter the odd contest or two throughout the year.
Diane continues to keep busy working and keeping me supplied with balsa wood!
